Jana Maneva Chuposka - "Bridge" Storyboard

from Maja Cankulovska review...

Jana Maneva Chuposka's project "Bridge" Storyboard consists of several segments presented through different media - video, photographs and texts, functioning totally independent of the motion picture "Bridge". The foundation of the project is the video recording, inspired by the main director’s idea (the title) of the film, only - unlike the film - it doesn’t narrate some fictive story/myth, but rather it starts with the documenting of a real event - the making of a movie, and can be described as a "film about a film".

The main idea of this project is connection. The most explicit metaphor of the basic theme - the bridge as connection, also specified in the "Bridge” Storyboard, is presented through various situations: sketches of the scenes dissolving into scenes from the film, preparations for filming linked to nature scenes, interpretations of the actors/participants in the filming process and interpretations and reactions about the same issue of people passing by, with apparent symbolism... - connecting the film and everyday life, the real and the imaginary.

The initial documentary course of the project is continued in part in the numerous photographs. The textual segments, through which a certain "grouping" of photographs is performed, enable a different kind of narration and interpretation. This type of textual form enriches and goes beyond the sheer documentary approach of literal and factual specification, description, explanation and representation of a certain event with limited duration. The short universal messages (love, man-woman, game, spaces (and) time, faces, persons, femina meeting, memories, looks, friendships, home, family, story about the gun, motion, road, directing, game, I, alienation...) included in the project, with no intention to impose on the viewer, offer a lot of possible associations. This gives the viewer a chance to perceive and interpret the subject in his/her own way, just like Jana Maneva Chuposka offers her own personal record - view of the film "Bridge" and it's idea in the "Bridge" Storyboard.
