Confluent Margins
and Tocka
The cultural center Tocka (NGO
Kontrapunkt) begins its new phase in the promotions of the
objectives of the cultural decentralization called Confluent
Margins. This project is continuation of Disseminated Margins
(2000-2002) that has the magazine Margina as it's basis aimed
to implement not only intellectual but also a concrete
decentralization through the most direct social and cultural action
(discussions, exhibitions, promotions, campaigns in several towns
throughout Macedonia). The new phase would be orientated towards the
integrative cultural factors, towards articulating, intertwining and
intermingling of the differences. Traveling through the inner parts
of Macedonia, organizing exhibitions, debates, promotions,
presenting the people from outside Skopje in Margina we
understood that action in the opposite direction is also needed: the
people from the province, but also from abroad, to have chance to
present their work in Skopje. That activity would diminish the
feeling of cultural provincialism that exists in our capital, but
would also strengthen the positions of the people from the province
and their self-assurance, enriching the cultural and creative
difference not only in the country but also partly even in the
region.
We see an urgent need for connecting and need for decentralization.
What we stand for is wide and effective distribution of cultural
products, stimulating and support for the smaller local and
individual cultural projects; inclusion and a bigger participation
of the different sexes and ethnic groups in the social life. These
are the reasons why we open the cultural center Tocka.
