First solo exhibition from Lazar Dimov in Tochka

On 23.03.2005. (Wednesday) in 20,00 in the Cultural Center “Tochka” the first solo exhibition by Lazar Dimov (born Kavadarci, 1977) will open. This exhibition is actually his graduating work on the Faculty of Architecture, in Skopje.

By presenting the art works from Lazar Dimov in the exhibition “The mounting landscape, review on objects and objectivity” Tochka is again involving into the less popularized areas of Macedonian art scene. It is the industrial design, now. Dimov researches the different aspects of the objects and objectivity in the modern consumer society, giving special meaning to one of its aspects – the mounting. Through this theoretical framework Dimov is introducing a stance of practicality in it’s project that could be best seen by Philip Stark thought (cited by Dimov himself) that “The designer should and must take part in the quest for meaning in creation of the civilized world”.
As Dimov himself say: During 24 hours a person touches around 500 industrially designed objects, in the production where he participates only indirectly, through the need to ease his own existence. The hyper-production of the objects in consumer society is not the only reason for reducing the living space. The second reason is the impossibility of their mounting, during the lifetime of the object and after through recycling. The space and the living conditions directly influence the objects we possess. The mounting objects are more practical than the one which are not. They speak about the ease that does not close the space in mass and weight (including the visual weight). They are expression of “negating the materiality” a kind of compromising relationship of existence, relationship that allows motion through the space which should cause motion of the spirit.
