Poetry Slam in Tocka

On 28 December in 20.30 a
competition in poetry reading/performing, better known as
Slam, will be held. |
After the incredibly succesful promotion of this creative and
democratic exchange before more than half year (30.03.2004. we
organized the first evening of Poetry Slam, in the frames of the
celebration of the ten yers of existence of the magazine Margina) we
decided to turn this event into an regular meeting that will held
twice a year.
What is Poetry Slam?
Simply said, Poetry Slam is an artistic competition in poetry, which
trough the process of performance put the accent both on the written
as well as the very act of performing the poem. In other words, this
way of presentation of the songs encourages the poets to focus not
only on what they say but especially on how they say. And it is what
makes the main focus: the way of presentation of the poem. During
presentation the artist can use all the casual tools.
In the Poetry Slam the poets "perform" their songs while the members
of jury evaluate their performances. The jury is usually chosen by
the organizer. The jury gives a grade from 1 to 10 for every
performed song. The winner is the poet that gains highest score.
The Poetry Slam differs from other poetry readings because it
demands active participation by the audience in the event. It has
the right to loudly says it's oppinion, to disagree with the jury
and the very act of performance.
