ORACLE SEMINAR, 9TH MEETING
Organized by Oracle, and NGO Kontrapunkt, Skopje, Macedonia

7-9 SEPTEMBER 2006 OHRID, MACEDONIA

SOME VENUE DETAILS

Laid on the banks of the Europe oldest lake, Ohrid, the city of UNESCO, has been a cradle of many civilizations since the neolith times. Today Ohrid is famous by the lake itself, by the 19th century preserved architecture, the medieval city walls, Roman amphitheatre, 365 churches, gallery of unique icons... and the excellent clubs. Visiting Ohrid for a cultural manager is opportunity to check the new cultural tourist image of the old city of UNESCO and to see examples of art and culture operating in new decentralized conditions.

In early September, Ohrid is still hot town, ideal for swimming and partying. The accommodation range between 15-30 euros in the city hotels and 5-8 euros in private rooms (in the old part of the town). The restaurants are famous for their panorama, local spirit... and huge dishes for cheap prices. Gourmets shouldn’t miss the unique plates (as endemic Ohrid trout and fish thick soup).

Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, (with bus, train and air connections) would be the meting point. For all bus travel to Ohrid would be organized. Those with loose agenda can meet their local Oracle friends in Skopje, have cultural audits, sightseeing or (cheap) shopping.

Those seeking for cheaper flights could alternatively land in Thessalonica, Greece. For a significant number of Oracle members choosing this alternative we could organize transport to Ohrid.
