The
objective of the debate, which is part of the project
Confluent Margins was to discuss publicly the ideological
stances on which the project is based, and to reflect
critically on the whole cultural context of Macedonia
regarding the upcoming cultural policy of the country - the
decentralization.
Macedonia cannot escape from the global
processes and from the structural redefinitions of the
society roles and the division of power in ot.
In the classical political model the society is often
presented according to a shape where vertical forms
dominate: pyramid, stairs, mountain. Today, the oposition
top/bottom is changed with the oposition centar/periphery,
and the social dynamics is also changed. In the present
sociocultural model the invoke of the sate, the people or
the teritory is not satisfactory anymore. With the
developement of the individualistic instances in the frames
of the multicultural issue, also grows the importance of the
socio-cultural factor in shaping of the societal space,
while the political dimension is weakening. Pressured by the
socio-cultural factors, the centar is now in a constant
questioning of the conception of the system, while the
groups from the peripheral positions are trying to impose
other concepts.
Alternative
geography begins to emerge on the margins that question the
self-definition of the center, they deconstruct the cultural
selfefficiency and redesign the maps of western modernism,
in order to reveal heterogenous spases, to reveal a
cartography of crashings which stresses the relationships
among the differently valued sights and spaces put under the
masks of unity of the national state.
